Title – Mr Grumpy (or Angry Frog)
Description – Fell in love with this angry little fella – he just looks like I feel sometimes – grumpy and fed up haha. I used the app Arty to find the polychromos colours and it really helped with getting closer to the colours of the photo and to add to the realism, of course I still layered from light to dark…

    Title – The Sprinter
Description – Normally I don’t do bugs but this photo so intrigued me. This Cardinal Meadowhawk Dragonfly looked so much like a human sprinter about to take off from the blocks that I just had to draw him. I even did a colour background!! I hope I have done the photo justice.
Medium – Prismacolor Premier, Prismacolor Verit…

      • On May 15, 2018 there were two tornadoes and a macroburst that hit the Hudson Valley. I live in Hopewell Jct, NY and we had the macroburst which produced strong winds and thunderstorms passed through between 3 and 4 p.m.. The electricity went out around 4:30 but luckily we have a gas stove which I was able to continue cooking dinner but in the…[Read more]

      • Now the utility company is clearing the other side of the newly cleared field which is where I enter/exit. They have been clearing brush and small trees along a long stretch of land from my entrance/exit point. I had to leave an hour earlier and enter/exit from another location in the woods and that was just this past week but since they don’t do…[Read more]

      • While backpacking I constantly hear a wild Turkey gobbling and making other sounds out in the woods. I have been running into them on several occasions while backpacking but they usually walk or run away from me. I did see a large group of wild turkeys one day but now I see a group of four turkeys and wonder if they were part of the larger group…[Read more]

      • There has been a lot of flooding where I go for my backpacking in the woods so I finally got to use my thigh high waders. At first, I was afraid that they might not work properly and water would leak through the waders but they worked out fine. There were areas of the creek and vernal pools where the mud was so soft that my waders would sink down…[Read more]

      • These photographs were taken on April 14th and April 15th, 2018. I went for my daily backpacking on both mornings and saw how much more clearing the workers did on that area. I have a lot of memories of how that area looked before they devastated it, it was filled with various trees and plants now it’s just an open large dirt space. I can remember…[Read more]

      • One day in late March of 2018, I noticed that there were a bunch of tall trees that were cut down in the woods where I hike. I couldn’t understand why they were cut down in that area. I did notice that they were tying boundary tape all around in that one section of the woods last year. When I came back the following day there were men using large…[Read more]

      • This is the time of year when there is a lot of flooding in the woods but this year I am prepared. I have Muck boots that allow me to wade through water that is knee deep but for deeper water I have my new thigh high waders. I hope the new waders are up to the challenge of wading through deep creek and vernal pools I plan on trying them out this…[Read more]
