Edith’s PhotoScapes History

I have had a camera in my hands since before I was 10. My first camera was a Kodak that used 110 film. My mother who has been taking photos for 65 years is my greatest inspiration. She gave me her Kodak Instamatic 126 camera when she got her first 35 mm camera. I have traveled a lot and have lived in many places. I have literally moved every year since I was 19 so have had opportunities to photograph a lot of places.

I have lived in LP of Michigan, Mississippi, Texas, UP of Michigan. I got my merchant mariners document in Piney Point, MD after 5 weeks of training. I then work 2 five month contracts on three different cruise ships in Hawaii. Many of my co workers were from the Philippines. I rented an apartment for 5 weeks just outside of Manila. On one of the cruises we got to visit the Fanning Islands as well. After my second contract ended I moved to Colorado and a year later I met my husband.

We lived in Colorado Springs, CO, and Bayfield, CO before we moved to our current home in Aztec, NM. We plan to move to Idaho this summer. I am an amueture photographer. I would say I am more a storyteller photographer but Nature and Landscape Photography is second only to photographing my three boys who are now 6, 5 and 2 years old. I got my current camera, a Canon Powershot SX120 when my oldest was about a few weeks old.

I am hoping to invest in my first dslr soon. I have enjoyed seeing everyone’s photos in the group and it has truly inspired me to take my photography to the next level. I have been watching YouTube videos and learning through posts how to capture the kind of photos I would like to share.
